Welcome to CASSANITI BAKERY HABERFIELD formly known as "HABERFIELD BAKERY"
CASSANITI BAKERY a family owned business, was first established in early 1969 by Antonino & Agata Cassaniti. Antonino’s whole life has been devoted to producing and distributing bread products of a high standard. His first job in Australia was distributing bread via a bread run. Realizing his great interest in the field, he and two partners purchased a bakery in Newtown. Antonino’s impeccable work ethic meant success. Soon he was able take over the business. When the opportunity arose in 1969 to set up a business in Haberfield, he thought it a great move and with the support of his hard-working wife, sold up his business in Newtown to set up in the historic and beautiful suburb. He began supplying bread to the large Italian community in Haberfield and the surrounding suburbs. After ten years of sheer hard work and determination, in 1979, Antonino was one of the first people in Australia to produce the ‘hollow roll’ known as the ‘rosetta’. Using recipes handed down from his sister’s bakery in Italy, Antonino imported machinery from Italy and began producing what is known as ‘wood-fired loaf’ or ‘pane a legno’. The Italian style of bread proved very popular amongst the large Italian community and has picked up many, many fans along the way.
Now the tradition is continued by Antonino and Agata’s sons Robert and Richard, both who have inherited the drive and ambition to run the iconic business. Although the men have worked alongside their parents for most of their lives, they have been officially running the bakery for over three years. This has meant the modernization of the business and the influx of new ideas and innovations for the future of CASSANITI BAKERY.
Along with tradition, the passion for creating some of the best breads in Sydney is a key factor in the success and longevity of the well known bakery.
